I just began to create my ancestry. My grandmother, Margaret Nicholson Winsor Forbes, always told me I was related to Newton Booth Tarkington and Haute. I have run out of clues, My great-grandmother was Mary Cordellia Nicholson Winsor married to George Ames Winsor, and I believe this would be how I am related, I just am not sure exactly how. I remember she mentioned and Elizabeth Ames, however I can not locate specific info on this person either. Any suggestions? My husband's family is related to Amanda Jett Wells. Amanda is my father-in-law's grandmother. We just visited McGinnis Cemetery where Burton Tarkington, Sarah & Barnet Jett, Jesse & Amanda Wells Harmon and their children are buried. My father-in-law never knew why his grandparents were buried in that particular cemetery so it was really interesting for us to find out that Amanda was Burton's grandchild. Now it makes sense to us. The new site is fantastic and very helpful. I am researching the Isaac Tarkington, b. abt. 1811 in Columbia, NC, line (am trying to find out who his parents were - have had a cousin in Utah tell me that his father was a John Tarkington, born 1792, but so far can't locate him). Anyhow, Isaac married Nancy West in 1836 in Tyrrell County, NC. If anyone is also tracing this family line, I'd be happy to share what info I have with you. Keep up the great work on this site!
